To Ride a Moped on the Public Road You Must
- Be at least 16 yrs of age.
- Have a driving licence that entitles you to ride a moped (Category P). Car drivers on passing their practical test are given category P entitlement on their licence with effect from 1st February 2001, but a newly qualified driver will neeed to complete CBT before this entitlement is validated. This once-only CBT is valid for a moped until the expiry of their licence.
- Provisional moped entitlement allows you to ride a machine which has an engine under 50cc.
